Dharamshala & McLeodganj

The trip continues…

Moving on from our paragliding adventure to a slightly more grounded state of mind, a little bit of time needed to be spent in Dharamshala and Mcleodganj. We left Bir around 4:30 in the afternoon on a bus, it was our first experience in one of these on a mountain road and boy was it fun! It was as if the driver only had two gears, dead slow or deathly fast, there was no in between on these roads, hairpin turns were treated with such disdain. I managed to do what I do best in such situations, fall asleep and drift into another space, Jobin on the other hand could not take his eyes off the road, bracing for the crash that thankfully never came.   .

We survived the bus journey. Finally reaching Dharamshala sometime close to midnight, we managed to find some food and without further delay made our way up to McLeodganj where Malik (A very cool guy we ran into at the paragliding world cup in Bir) had arranged lodging for us. Tired and thoroughly bent from the bus journey we decided to hit the sack and start early the next morning. I tried to sleep but couldn’t resist sneaking out late at night to gaze at the stars, if it wasn’t for the piercingly frigid temperature I would’ve stayed out there the whole night. It was breathtakingly beautiful, I must’ve seen at least six shooting stars…
